Fay (Star's socialising
partner and my dear friend) went through any number of names before leaving
Star with her baby name. In the end it is a fitting name given that she is
Kea's daughter and Kealohi means shining star (or something along those
lines) in Hawaiian.
Star has won some lovely Challenges and
Reserve Challenges but would rather stay at home than go to shows other than
to socialise with her two-legged friends.
In 2014 she had a very big scare (long
story) and looked like she wouldn't make it into the ring for the 2014
National. As her usual handler I was excluded from taking her in as I was
Convenor for the show but thankfully Wendy Lam (for her class) and Julie
David (challenge) stepped up for me and took her through to Junior in Show a
very thrilling moment for me as she beat the Reserve Challenge dog who had
in his turn put Star's brother Z into 2nd place in the Junior Dog class :-)
Star is very much my 'destructo' dog - the
first puppy to be raised in my home subsequent to the death of my mother she
had waaay too much freedom resulting in eating her way through a leather
lounge and a queen size bed!
Star as mother to her first litter with Ch
Elangeni Pink Floyd has proven to be an exceptional dam - calm, collected,
and loving - I couldn't ask more of my sweet girl.
